From Cutting-Edge Software to Fighting Hackers

As the first city to log in to the World Wide Web in 1968, Colorado Springs has a rich history in advancing the information technology industry. Adding a diverse military presence to the mix makes the Colorado Springs region a natural fit for IT and cybersecurity companies looking to expand, start up or relocate.

Information Technology

The region’s pool of highly-skilled workers and sophisticated communications networks have led large employers such as FedEx, Hewlett Packard and Oracle to locate their in-house software development and systems engineering operations in Colorado Springs. The region is also home to a number of companies that develop software for industries such as e-business, aerospace and defense, gaming, telecommunications, finance and more.
In addition to a thriving IT industry, the Colorado Springs area has become a datacenter hotspot. Thanks to low utility costs, reliable infrastructure and more than 8,000 hours per year of free cooling from outside air, large corporations — from Walmart and Verizon to Progressive Insurance — have established data center operations in the region.
